Refunds are going out
12 months ago – Thu, Apr 24, 2025 at 09:37:47 AM

I finally got the money back after two full years and have started to refund everyone. However, it appears I got locked out of my bank account for hitting some kind of limit after only refunding ten of you, so things will be a bit slow going as I try to fix this. However, a ton of you also have cards which are now very much expired, so if you don’t get a refund before the 1st, try contacting me and I’ll instead PayPal you or something instead.

Here’s to finally getting this over with.

The comic is cancelled.
over 1 year ago – Wed, Jan 01, 2025 at 07:45:14 AM

Firebreak #3 is cancelled. I can’t bring myself to complete the comic after my dad died, and the money itself which would be used to complete it has been held by the government for nearly two years as it was in his name when he died. I genuinely just want to be rid of the entire thing because the memories are too painful, yet I can’t be rid of it because the government is holding the exact money I would be using to refund you all and I don’t have the kind of money for refunds otherwise.

I will refund everyone 100% as soon as I get it back, yet originally I was told it was coming last year, then November, which obviously passed, and now they’re saying “maybe Spring”. I’ve been strung along for nearly two years now about this and only wanted to make this update once they finally got it to me and I could refund everyone, yet it’s been delay after delay.

Here’s to the government hopefully getting the money to me sooner rather then later so I can refund you all, though.

March Update
about 2 years ago – Wed, Mar 06, 2024 at 05:57:59 PM

Everything is on fire except for the actual comic, which is done, and has been done for over a month now.

The puzzle, on the other hand, remains a logistic mess that’s taking me way too long to get unstuck. Due to the way it was planned, it could not be worked on until the actual issue was finished, as it incorporates content from the issue. I cannot actually print the comic until the puzzle is done with.

On top of that, well… the discussions I’ve had about the comic have sort of sent me into a spiral.

See, when talking about the previous issues, one word would always come up, and it’s starting to worry me.

A compliment I get on the previous issues a lot is that “they’re fun”. Which, don’t get me wrong, is a great compliment! I’m happy to get it! Just… one small issue.

I would… not exactly use that word for the upcoming content. #3 takes a bit of a stark turn that at this point I expect many of you guys to not be the largest fan of, because, while I’ve obviously been dealing with my own personal tragedy this last year, I doubt that many of the people waiting for a year plus are going to be satisfied with an issue that takes a sudden turn into the dark and weird and ends on a semi cliffhanger that to narratively resolve requires you to solve a bizarre cipher and cross-reference between multiple additional objects… right as I was reading this I remembered that some puzzles will have to have separate digital solutions, so that’s an issue…

And I’m not just going to cancel the puzzle as I know a bunch of people backed for it, and I’m not going to ship stuff out before it’s done as the puzzle book itself is part of the story. I genuinely bit off way more than I could chew without the support of the family that left at the start of last year, and it’s all just… a mess.

I’m hoping to have everything sorted by the end of the month.

Here’s to… that, anyway.

Comic is printing next month.
over 2 years ago – Sun, Dec 31, 2023 at 05:29:37 PM

I was very much wanting to be able to release the comic tonight digitally for those that’ve waited all this time… yet of all things, a one-two punch of a multi-day power outage at the worst time and a very important email being lost to spam has delayed it by a few extra days.

In two weeks, the addresses will be locked and cards will be charged for any add-ons selected. It immediately begins printing afterwards.

I’m not proud of how long this issue took to actually come out, and I get it if I lost a lot of your trust as the months went on. For a bit, I was so ashamed that I genuinely considered refunding everyone out of my own pocket and doing a digital-only release somewhere of the finished issue, only to learn that the funds I’d use for that refund wouldn't get to me for another… six months, so here we go with the actual issue printing instead.

That said, if the next issue even has a Kickstarter to begin with, it will not appear until the actual comic itself is fully, 100% finished and can be immediately printed and shipped out after the campaign is done. I will make sure a delay like this never happens again.

Here’s to finally getting this done.
